THOSS Media GmbH was founded in December 2010
by Dr. Andreas Thoss.
Using a network of experienced and highly specialized experts THOSS Media delivers complex services in the field of publishing, marketing and public relations.
Andreas Thoss
Physicist
Andreas studied physics at the universities of Dresden, Graz and Berlin. In 1996, he was hired as a developer of medical laser systems at Aesculap Meditec in Jena, Germany. He later completed a PhD in physics at the Max-Born-Institute Berlin.
His research there was focused on ultra-short and ultra-intense laser pulses.
In 2003, Andreas joined the international publishing house John Wiley & Sons. There, he gathered comprehensive experience as Publisher, Editor and Commissioning Editor in the areas of book, journal and online publishing.
Since its foundation in 2010 he manages THOSS Media.

Journalist & content marketer
Andreas writes regularly for various German and international trade magazines. Some articles are commissioned by the respective magazine, others are written for customers. In the latter case, the customers appear as co-authors, sometimes only the customers.
Most articles have been published in the American magazines Laser Focus World and Photonics Spectra. Press releases from THOSS Media have been published on more than 70 different platforms.

Publisher
During his tenure at Wiley, Andreas founded four journals. At the end, he was responsible for the publication of 17 journals there. Then he founded THOSS Media and started the scientific journal Advanced Optical Technologies (IF 2023: 1.8) in 2012. It was co-published with the German publisher De Gruyter. In 2023, THOSS Media sold AOT to the Swiss publisher frontiers. A new scientific journal is in preparation for Launch in 2024.
